Amerikai Egyesült Államok - Egyedülálló 2. világháborús légi egyenruha csoport – Airborne Command – mosodai számokkal/névvel - A-osztályú kabát, ing, nadrág, sapka, zokni, bronzcsillag kitüntetett - TARTALOM NINCS! - 1943

Offered for auction (no reserve!) is this great grouping to a Technician 4th Grade of the AIRBORNE COMMAND, Wilbur L Baldwin, born in 1919 in Ohio - see attached screenshot with archive photo from the NARA. He enlisted in december 1941 - his laundry number is also in his uniform.. The airborne command was the precursor unit for the 101st and 82nd airborne, among others. Attached are two example photo's of this particular patch in wear by airborne units. This impressive grouping contains the following: - His beautiful a-class jacket, dated 1940, a nice large size 37L, with luandry number and originally applied Airborne command insignia. The jacket has a EAME 3 star medal bar (indicating the owner participated in 3 major european airborne campaigns, a good conduct medal bar (one clasp is detached/broken), and a BRONZE STAR medal bar. The three stripes on the sleeve indicates the owner served 1,5 years overseas, consistent with his medal bars. A beautifuljacket altogether. When I received the uniform it also had a purple heart ribbon bar hidden in one of the pockets, so it could well be the owner also suffered injuries during his campaigns (this bar is included. - His wool pants, beautifully dated 1943 with a nice label and with some small moth chips - His wool shirt, with Airborne Command Patch and Technician Fourth Grade rank stripes, marked with same laundry number - His summer cap with lightblue piping - His pair of WW2 US Army socks (washed, obviously!) I have not done more research on this person, this will be a great thing to do for the buyer! All in all a unique and fantastic untouched grouping, that are hard to come by. See also my other interesting WW2 items that I offer for auction on catawiki! History of the Airborne Command The U.S. Airborne Command Shoulder Patch was created in 1943, and used during WWII to designate smaller Airborne units before they were assigned to a formal division. Units such as the 501st and 506th Parachute Infantry regiments wore this patch before being assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.
