Comtoise clock with harp pendulum – "Louis Badoz au Puy" – period early 1970s
Very robust and pristine large anchor escapement Comtoise clock with harp pendulum, and with a movement from the early 1970s, signed; "Louis Badoz au Puy"
Bell strike on the full hour, with repetition, and half-hourly strike.
This clock also has a cord for making the clock strike in between these times.
The original production area is Franche-Comté (Jura), France. This is how the name "Comtoise" came to be. The starting period was around 1700, with the city of Morbier as the centre. There are almost no clocks left from this period.
The last development of the Morbier Comtoise is the so-called "flower comtoise", which was introduced around 1880, in combination with the anchor escapement.
The "feuille" (front plate) is a rectangle with pictures of a hunting scene.
