A fascinating late 19th Century travelogue volume, in Tibet and Kashmir, with folding map and 54 illustrations Edward Frederick Knight had a varied career as a barrister, journalist and soldier. He managed to produce more than 20 books, a number of which were edited volumes of his despatches as a war correspondent. Where Three Empires Meet is arguably his most interesting work. Knight travelled to Kashmir and through the Himalayas, before arriving at Ladakh and Gilgit. His timing was such to allow for his involvement in the 1891 British campaign againt Hunza and Nagar. Under the command of the Resident, Colonel Algernon Durand, Knight was actually placed in temporary charge of some native troops. Light wear to boards’ corners, and head and foot of spine. Internally; the book in good condition. Neat inscriptions on first front free endpaper page. Inner hinges are very good. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Foxing and faded tanned spots to some pages throughout. The plates, illustrations, and folding map are complete and in nice condition (Please see pictures).
