Ribbon chair No. CL9 by Cesare Leonardi & Franca Stagi, moulded fiberglass seating on a chromed tubular steel base, mounted with rubber shock mounts. Originally designed in 1961, this is from the production done by Elco Venice after 1969. polished black lacquer on the seat loop, there are loss of lacquer on the fiberglass molded seat sections, mainly at the front edge, light scratches on the sides, overall very good condition, regarding the seats age. chromed tubular steel base shows also signs of age on the surface, but is solid and stable. the chrome isn´t high polished, more a yellowish matt tone, very similar to zinc coated tubes from the ´20s. rubber shock mounts in very good condition, only a bit loss of black coating It´s a reamarkable design from the space age time, very sculptural yet truely comfortable. You can sit in and on it in various seating postions, also with both legs up ( a little bit like Saarinens womb chair). The cantilevered design provides an inherent springiness to the seat. dimensions are: 98cm wide, 71cm depth and 64cm height. seating height in the front 36cm, lowering to 23 in the back
