This is an excellent one-piece rosewood carving of GaneshaMagnificent work of the craftsman, with all luxury of details both in the obverse and in the reverse. Indian origin.
Ganesha is one of the most famous gods of the Hindu pantheon with a human body and an elephant's head, son of the gods Shiva and Parvati. He is one of the best known and most worshipped deities in India, as a remover of obstacles, patron of the arts and sciences and lord of abundance. He is also invoked as the patron of scriptures during the reading of sacred texts.
