黒色愉快 Happiness in Black CHAN Wai-Kwong Zen Photo Gallery/2020/Japanese/200 × 200 mm After dropping out of junior high school and moving from job to job, Chen Weijiang taught himself photography as a teenager and quit his job about 10 years ago to devote himself to it. Having already self-published nearly 40 photo books to date, the "photographer in perpetual moratorium" walks around Hong Kong from morning till night every day, intuitively capturing the city. This third book published by Zen Photo Gallery is in full color and contains street photography works taken from 2018 to 2020. The title of the photo book was inspired by the Hong Kong music unit Soft Hard Tian Shi's song "Black Delight," released 10 years ago, which made fun of the government. His color photographs of chaotic streets and people full of individuality are not confined to a single technique, but sometimes appear across the page like a running light, stimulating the viewer from one photograph to the next.
