Author: Leandro Alberti (1479-1552) was an Italian historian, philosopher and theologian, he was led to humanistic studies by the well-known doctor and humanist Giovanni Garzoni (1419-1505). Having entered the Dominican Order in 1493, he studied theology and philosophy with Silvestro Mazzolini da Prierio (1456-1523) while continuing to cultivate his humanistic and historical interests with Garzoni. In 1524, during the witch hunt in the Duchy of Mirandola, he translated into Italian the dialogue "The Witch or the illusions of the devil" (Strix, sive de ludificatione daemonum) written by Giovanni Francesco II Pico della Mirandola.
