Stunning Large Tureen with Lid and Handles produced by Herend - “Rothschild Bird” Collection, well known hand painted pattern with birds perched among branches and scattered insects, in excellent to pristine condition.
Hand painted, the relief border in Altozier, outlined in gilt (gold), 1st class quality.
This pattern was first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain.
Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence.
Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
It’s in excellent to pristine condition, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs.
