Up for offer is an exquisite carving of Prince Shōtoku as a child, an iconic figure in Buddhist tradition, crafted by the acclaimed Japanese sculptor Kubota Yoshimichi. A recipient of the Prime Minister's Award in 2010, Kubota Yoshimichi was born on January 1, 1938, in Nagano Prefecture, and has since become a significant name in the world of Japanese sculpture through his dedication and skill, evident in his roles within various prestigious art associations.

This serene hand-carved statue beautifully captures Prince Shōtoku at the tender age of two, a pose based on the legendary tale of him praying towards the east and invoking the blessings of the Buddha with the words "Namu Butsu". The name of Yoshimichi is etched at the back, serving as a seal of authenticity.

While the statue shows signs of wear with minor scratches and slight stains indicative of its age, it remains in good condition and continues to exude a sense of calm and devotion.
