Delve into the past with this authentic wooden tsuba from the Meiji period or later, characterized by its unique mokkō shape, akin to a stylized quince. The guard is meticulously finished with a deep black lacquer, and features an elevated Maki-e design depicting peach blossoms, which in Japanese culture are emblems of vitality and resilience, often linked to the spirit of the samurai. The craftsmanship showcases the traditional Maki-e technique, where the design slightly protrudes above the surface, creating a textured visual effect.
