The guizhouniscus microlepidus has a streamlined body, and at this stage, the ancient cod is evolving its asymmetrical heterocercal tail towards a diphycercal tail with equal upper and lower lobes. Such evolution is advantageous for increasing swimming speed to adapt to the increasingly fierce competition for survival in the ocean. This specimen retains its teeth, and the eye sockets are clearly visible. The tail fin, in particular, requires meticulous cleaning under a microscope to preserve its structure.
The matrix is about 26*14.6*1.4 cm and the fish is about 22 cm.
