2 Italian Vetterli bayonets (on the left) shortened in 1916, the other one is a fixed bayonet for Mab

1. Left - With the adoption of Vetterli rifles, it was decided not to use the original Swiss bayonets, which they were instead designed and built by the Italian state arsenals [4]. Sabre-bayonet Mod. 1870 modified Like their coeval weapons, the infantry rifle was equipped with a sabre-bayonet, or rather a melee weapon that, according to the beliefs of the time, was to serve both as a sabre in the melee and as a bayonet to turn long rifles into fearsome pikes. The sabre-bayonet Mod. 1870, adopted in 1871, features a 52-cm double-edged steel blade with a rectangular groove on each side. The cross guard is made of iron, with one arm bent towards the blade ending in a round knob, while the other arm features a ring at the end that engages the muzzle of the rifle when the bayonet is mounted. The handle features erinoid grips fixed with two screws and has a T-shaped longitudinal groove that serves as a guide for the bayonet fasteners, located on the right side of the barrel, with a transverse pin and an external sheet metal spring. The bayonet is released by pushing a button on one side of the handle, which pushes the end of the peg out of the groove, allowing the bayonet to be pulled out at the front. The black leather sheath features brass hardware and is fixed to the bayonet pocket by means of a hemispherical or oval button. 2. Dxll Moschetto Automatico Beretta Mod. 1938 (or more commonly MAB 38), is a machine gun that was formerly part of the service weapons of the Italian armed forces and police forces. The origins of MAB are in the automatic muskets produced by Beretta in 1918 and 1930, which, although not adopted by the Royal Army, had shown excellent general features, so the company from Gardone Val Trompia firmly believed in the validity of the project. Moreover, the market demand for this category of weapons was strong in the 1930s, and the sales of the various German MP28, MP34, and the American Thompson M1928 were very high.
