From this sweet and simple image of a young blond girl in a yellow dress, artist Margaret Keane's Big-Eyed 'Waifs' were born and took the art world By Storm!! Taking the title that would be used to describe her "Big Eyes" paintings at their introduction in the early 1960's, 'The Waifs', this is a vintage lithograph (mounted on board) plate-signed KEANE (from the days when husband Walter Keane was taking the credit) and titled at the bottom center 'The Waifs' (1962). Very Rare! This is arguably THE most recognizable KEANE figure - in very good condition overall considering it's age with some discoloration/staining on the lower border (acquired in original frame from early 60's, border of litho showing title was covered by matting). Otherwise this is vintage and shows its age but very rarely offered for sale in any form. Mounted to board, will ship flat.
