19th century French school Reduction of the tomb of Philippe Chabot, Count of Brion and Admiral of France (1480- 1543), after a model of Jean Cousin the Elder (1490 or 1500 - 1560). Bronze with gilt patina. It bears the coat of arms of Admiral Chabot with the motto of the Order of the Garter "Honni soit qui mal y pense" and an inscription on the base "Philippe Chabot, Admiral de France 1494-1543". Dimensions: 43 × 53 × 18 cm - 20 kg Work in relation: France, third quarter of the 16th century, fragments of the funeral monument by Philippe Chabot after a model by Jean Cousin, alabaster and marble, Paris, Louvre Museum, n° inv. This edition bronze is inspired by the funeral monument of the Admiral of France Philippe Chabot, while taking iconographic liberties from the original that is known by an engraving by Millin. The funeral monument designed by Jean Cousin Father (1490-1560) was erected in the Orléans chapel of the church of the Paris Célestins convent by Leonor Chabot, son of the deceased, before being dismembered in 1791-92. The recumbent statue and other fragments are currently kept in the Louvre Museum. Tomb of Admiral Chabot, bronze sculpture after the Renaissance model. Beautiful and very rare sculpture probably unique and really exceptional. Shipping with insurance. Don't forget to take into account the customs clearance fees.
