Eucrites are a rare type of meteorite that come from Asteroid Vesta. It is in the asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter. It orbits the Sun with a period of 3.6 Earth years and has a diameter of 525 kilometres. A great impact occurred in the South hemisphere of Vesta less than 1 billion years ago, ejecting rocks from the asteroid into space. Eventually some of these rocks fell on Earth. For auction a great eucrite meteorite recently found in Northwest Africa and bought to a Moroccan dealer in December 2019 in Zagora. It is a fresh meteorite with glossy fusion crust, typical in eucrites. As can be seen in the matrix, the texture is breacciated, with sharpe-angled fragments of other broken rocks. Of note, the fresh fusion crust with radial flow lines that can be seen in the pictures. Weight is 451 grams. Certificate of authenticity included. IMCA 5591.
