Historical reference:
G. Gerlach (Gustav Gerlach) is a German engineer and entrepreneur who moved in 1845 from Berlin to Warsaw. In 1852, he launched the G. Gerlach Special Geodetic Instrumentation Plant on the basis of a factory opened in 1816 by engineer Joseph Migdalskiego. He received a large order from the Russian government for the supply of theodolites and planimeters for the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway.
