Gerrit Groenewegen (1754 – 1826). Five etchings from the series “Verscheidene Soorten van Schepen en Vaartuigen” dated 1789-1991. All ± 13.5 x 16 cm. In the plate, in the middle of the lower margin, is the title, to the left is the letter of the series and to the right is the number. All etchings have 2 to 4 mm margin outside the printing edge. Three out of five etchings are recoloured to varying degrees, see the photos. The image and paper are still entirely intact. The five titles are: “Kof zeylende by de wind”, “Een Schol schuit”, “eenmast Galyoot schip”, “een Vis hoeker”, “Oorlogs Fregat ten anker zijn groote steng neer”. The etchings are unsigned but all documented and listed in numerous overview works, museum collections and print cabinets, including Boymans, Rijksmuseum, Lakenhal, various shipping museums and many municipal archives.
