Willem de Zwart (1862-1931) - Woonwagen in landschap

Charming panel with a size of 17 x 20 cm, dating from around 1930. Good paint layer and free of craquelure. Comes in a new frame of Jos Prins (formerly Flippo); this gem can go onto the wall immediately. Signed on the bottom right with W d Z. Approved by Geert Kocken, auctioneer at the Venduehuis der Notarissen in The Hague. This work can be found in the archives of the Fam. E.J. van Wisselingh & Co. Origin: Art Gallery Patel (Noordeinde The Hague). Willem de Zwart was trained by Jacob Maris in the typical Dutch style of The Hague School and was quickly considered promising. However, after painting with the more impressionist artist George Hendrik Breitner in Drenthe in 1885, he changed his style. He opted for a looser brush handling, thick paint application and bright colours, with which he matched the work of the Amsterdam Impressionists. Dimensions: 17 x 20 without frame. 31 x 34 with frame.
