Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) - Skulptur af fasan - Bronze (patineret) - Anden halvdel af det 19. århundrede
Pheasant sculpture, resting on a base made up of rocks and tree stump. Bronze with medal patina on the animal and brown on the base. Ancient edition cast, mounting under the base made of nuts and wedges, typical of the 19th century.
Signed on the base (J. Moigniez).
A weasel hides on the right of the base. This small mammal is accustomed to stealing eggs, and the pheasant seems to be willing to account for it.
Jules Moigniez is a French animal sculptor (1835 - 1894). He was a student of Paul Comoléra.
He exhibited for the first time at the 1855 Universal Fair and received an honourable mention at the 1859 Salon. Jules Moigniez's sculptures were, during his lifetime, marketed in France and abroad. In 1862, he won a medal at the London Salon and sold half of his production to the United States.
