Cavalry or dragoon’s helmet - troop model 1872-1874: Third-Republic era Made by GODILLOT company: Alexis Godillot (1816-1893). Markings on back of helmet: GODILLOT, number 55 (size) under the crest, letters A and another unidentified at the end of the neck rest (see pictures). Gadroon crest, marmoset, headband with grenade, rosettes adorned with flowers, leather-lined scaled chin straps with brass brim. Marmoset crest in red horsehair, black horsehair mane, leather lining in good condition, red feather plume. Please note: The crest is old but quite short and not the original, it is removable, the feather plume looks recent. With its wooden display stand.
