et dejligt plantefossil! - Forstenet plante - Annularia sp. - 19 cm - 8 cm
These three lovely carboniferous fossils show Annularia. Annularia are the leaves of the Calamites tree (horsetail tree, see picture) which are fossilized like a circle. There are 3 stones, 2 of them belong together, positive and negative (see pictures).
The matrix is an iron clay stone so the stone material is volcanic ash that covered the fossils in an instant that time and therefore the plants were preserved perfectly. The stone was found by myself in the region of the district Moselle in France in December 2023. Found in rest material that came out of the former coal mines in this region. The fossil is between 309 and 302 million years old.
