Author: Tomikichiro Tokuriki (March 22, 1902 – July 1, 2000) was a Japanese printmaker active from the late Meiji period to the Heisei period. Tomikichiro Tokuriki was born as the 12th generation of a family entrusted with the Nishihonganji Picture Hall in Kyoto. After studying at the Kyoto City School of Fine Arts and Crafts, he graduated at the top of his class from the Kyoto City Painting Specialized School in 1923. After graduation, he apprenticed under Bakusen Tsuchida. In 1928, he exhibited Japanese paintings at the Kokuga Sosaku Kyokai (National Painting Creation Association) and won the Chigusa Prize. From 1968, he began producing popular prints and held several solo exhibitions. In 1972, he created a series of 12 prints depicting the footsteps of saints for Nishihonganji Temple. He received awards for his achievements, including the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Fourth Class, and the Kyoto City Cultural Merit Award.
