(SJÆLDEN) PATOLOGISK. Kæmpe PREMIUM makrelHAJTÆNDER - Fossile tænder - Otodus obliquus - 6.4 cm (Ingen mindstepris)
PREMIUM QUALITY. Magnificent pair of large Otodus obliquus shark teeth in excellent condition, WITHOUT FILLING OR HEAVY RECONSTRUCTION. 6.4 cm and 5.8 cm in length.
The big one (6.4 cm) has a PATHOLOGICAL deformation, which makes it VERY RARE, especially on this size. One of its cusplets is part of the main crown, which is also deformed on its labial side.
The other one (5.8 cm) has a small restoration on the root, but it is only glued, without the typical filling that most of these teeth have. See photographs to get an idea of the condition.
These teeth are scientifically classified. They belong to the lower-anterior jaw, positions 2 and 3 (see images for reference).
LOCATION Oued Zem, Morocco
FORMATION Ouled Abdoun Basin (Phosphate beds)
Otodus obliquus was one of the first giant sharks that ever existed, with teeth up to 10 cm. It was the ancestor of Otodus Megalodon, the largest shark that has ever existed and with which it shares a gender.
The size of these teeth indicates that this shark must have been an incredible marine macro-predator.
