A Chinese 'emaille sur biscuit' so-called 'spinach and egg' painted sculpture of a standing male Buddhist lion ('foo' dog, or temple lion) on a organically shaped base, 1st half 18th century, ca 10 cm. high, 7.5 cm. long and 5 cm. wide. The lion with bulging eyes, flaring nostrils, gaping mouth, sticking out tongue, wavy mane and upright bushy tail, holding his right paw on a ball, the back with mounting hole for the tail, in excellent condition.
