ATELIER FERRARO - Vase - Ephemeral Décor 'Springtime Vase'-serien - blæst glas

ATELIER FERRARO reveals limited series 'Ephemeral Décor' at 'Homage', hosted at Palazzo Giureconsulti during Milan Design Week 2024, the result of an exciting collaboration between Catawiki and Masterly. The "Ephemeral Décor" series of blown glass vases pays homage to the genius of Jugendstil master Émile Gallé, while seeking to redefine the contemporary notion of decoration and reflecting on the ephemeral nature of beauty. Within the context of this project, decoration serves as a reminder of the ever-changing and transient nature of beauty that evolves and transforms over time. Flowers such as Juliet Roses, Asian ranunculus, or wild tulips are merged with the mouth-blown molten glass, leaving an indelible imprint of fleeting elegance on the material alongside a more delicate and transient component, destined to be lost to time: ash. This burnt portion, now transformed into decor, gradually detaches from the vase over time, revealing a new facet of the object’s beauty. Each vase is a unique creation executed with utmost precision and outstanding craftsmanship, incorporating typical flowers of the season in which the vase is produced. The inaugural vase is part of the 'Springtime Vase' series. The work invites us to abandon the modern concept of serial perfection and abstract beauty and challenges us to embrace a more authentic and natural approach. The vase is part of a limited series of 20 pieces. ATELIER FERRARO is a design studio based in Munich focused on creating visually enthralling, intuitive objects of design fitted for the modern user. After studying architecture in Italy and Greece, Emanuele Ferraro moved to Germany to work with a series of renowned architecture offices and opened his own design studio in 2019. AD Italia magazine listed ATELIER FERRARO among the new talents of Italian design. His work has been published in several international journals, was awarded at the Salone Satellite during Milan Design Week, and is currently on display in the exhibition „Italy: A New Collective Landscape“ at the Hong Kong Design Institute, curated by the ADI Design Museum Milan #masterlyhomage #SS24
