You can see the great work of the artisan, the entire top is worked with these triangular shapes, in the middle and the end of the cup is worked with other carved decorative motifs. Sublime! You wonder what is the opaline right? come on, every day you learn something....The opaline glass or milky glass (milk glass) is an opalescent or semi-translucent glass, milky white or colored, blown or pressed into a variety of shapes. First manufactured in Murano in 1405 and popularized in Venice in the 16th century, it comes in blue, pink, yellow, brown, black and white. During the sixteenth century in Venice white opaline was the one that enjoyed more diffusion so that the glassmakers of the nineteenth century called milky white opaque glass or "opal glass", achieving the white color by adding an opacifier, for example tin dioxide or bone ash. This glass was used to make decorative tableware, lamps, vases, and costume jewelry, and was very popular during the late 19th century. Some pieces made for wealthy individuals during the Gilded Age are known for their delicacy and beauty of color and design. Measures Height 16 cm Diameter 8 cm
