The medal “For the Capture of Berlin” with Award Document. Awarded to Guard Sergeant of the 32nd Separate Motorcycle Battalion, 28th Guards Mechanized Division Vasily Ivanovich Glovatsky. Description : The medal “For the Capture of Berlin” was awarded to servicemen of the Red Army, Navy and NKVD troops - direct participants in the assault and capture of the German capital (from April 22 to May 2, 1945), as well as to the organizers and leaders of military operations during the capture of this city. The basis for awarding the medal was documents confirming participation in the Berlin operation, issued by unit commanders and heads of military medical institutions. The round medal, 32 mm in diameter, bordered on the front side with a border, was made of brass. On the front side in the center there is an inscription “For the capture of Berlin” and a five-pointed star above it; along the lower edge there is an image of an oak half-wreath intertwined with a ribbon in the middle part. On the reverse side of the medal is the date of the capture of Berlin by Soviet troops: “May 2, 1945”, below it is a five-pointed star. All inscriptions and images are in relief. The medal, using an eyelet and a ring, is connected to a metal pentagonal block, covered with a red silk moiré ribbon 24 mm wide. There are five stripes in the middle of the ribbon: three black and two orange. The medal “For the Capture of Berlin” is worn on the left side of the chest and, in the presence of other USSR medals, is located after the medal “For the Capture of Vienna” and before the medal “For the Liberation of Belgrade”. After the death or death of the awardee, the medal, along with the certificate for it, remains in the family of the awardee - as a memory.
