L3 Chondrite Meteorite - Armored chondrules! - Weight is 79,3 g
Chondrites are called so because they have chondrules, tiny spheres that are considered
the first solid material of the Solar System. They also have tiny particles of iron.
This endcut (actually is 1 half of the specimen) shows the interior of the meteorite.
It is a nice L3 chondrite, meaning that it has a low content in iron and and clearly
defined chondrules. Moreover some of them are surrounded by metal! This concept is
also known as 'armored' chondrules.
Fresh fusion crust remnants are still present in some parts (see pictures)
