Excellent pair of Japanese bronze scent burners from the 19th century or earlier. They are very well-made pieces with peacocks and other birds in relief and elephants on the lids. One piece is in excellent condition, but the second one has a loose elephant on the lid and a crack on the edge of the lid, defects that can be easily restored. This second piece has a slightly lighter color tone than the first one. Heavy and rare examples of this size. See photos. Standing ca. 37 cm tall and weighing 3850 g each. Total weight: 7700 g.
