The 200 Monges Reserva 2011 Magnum is an exceptional red wine from Rioja Alta that is at its best and has 91 Parker points. It is aged for 24 months in new French and American oak barrels. Before bottling it will rest for a while in tanks. Once bottled, it will spend about 16 months in the bottle rack until it is sold. The grapes come from vineyards with clayey-calcareous, clayey-ferrous and alluvial soils. Ecological cultivation. The harvest is done manually in 15 kilo boxes. In its production, fermentation takes place in Allier wooden vats for eleven days at a controlled temperature of between 24ºC and 28ºC, and with its own skins for a further 25 days. Three pump-overs are carried out a day and it is clarified with periodic racking. It doesn't leak. On the nose we can find predominance of aromas of ripe red fruits and tobacco leaves. Forest nuances are also discernible. In the mouth it has good body and elegant tannins resulting from good aging in wood. Some tasty touches of licorice stand out. Decanter: Attractive red fruit, balsamic, plum, tobacco and tomato leaf nose. The palate brings lively acidity, a silky texture, mellow tannins and a long finish. Very classical.
