Suzuribako 硯箱 (writing box) - Boks - Antik suzuribako 硯箱 (skriveboks) med nashiji lak og taka maki-e design - Guld, Træ
A refined antique Suzuribako硯箱 (writing box) with superb craftsmanship and excellent condition.
The outer surface of this Suzuribako shows a fine black-lacquered lid decorated with gold taka maki-e patterns for vivid mountains, rocks, flying birds, pine tree, tower and all kinds of lifelike plants. These patterns were created with great precision and detail, capturing the beauty of buildings and plants in every nuance. The gold lacquer was applied with great skill, creating an effect of depth and three-dimensionality to the floral motif. Three beautiful flying gold cranes was created on the reverse of the lid.
The interior and the bottom of the Suzuribako are coated with nashiji lacquer, a traditional Japanese finish that creates a thick gold dust effect over the entire surface. This finish offers a charming contrast to the glossy black exterior.
The box with a fitted tray housing an inkstone 硯 (suzuri) and a high-quality water dropper水滴 (suiteki) in a two-flowers shape. Besides, one knife with nashiji lacquer was also included in this lot.
