Engraved with the words "The Earth is a water-rich miraculous star, Spaceship Earth is a beautiful yet fragile cosmic bubble, a bubble that has continued flying for 4.5 billion years, may it continue forever," this piece invokes both a deep appreciation for our planet and a call to preserve its delicate beauty. The central relief features a harmonious depiction of trees, fish, mountains, and an array of smiley faces contained within a circle, suggesting the unity of life on Earth, surrounded by an artistic representation of a spaceship with the moon beneath it. Shohachi was born in Tokyo and after graduating from middle school, he aspired to be a Western-style painter. An active member of the Fuyuzan group, he was known for his innovative works influenced by Fauvism. Shohachi also contributed illustrations to the works of authors such as Nagai Kafu and later depicted the customs of Asakusa and scenes around his home. His legacy includes essays and a collection of works before his passing due to a brain tumor. This artifact bears signs of aging such as wear, a few small chips, and some stains, with remnants of tape on the reverse—refer to photos for condition. Note: Stand is not included.
