Valquejigoso V1 2008 is the first wine of this label made in Valquejigoso, it will only be made in exceptional climatological vintages on our estate, with that plot that transmits the fullness of the personality of the Valquejigoso terroir. This wine is made with 95% from a single plot of Cabernet Sauvignon, and the remaining 5% from other varieties. The Cabernet Sauvignon plot has a north orientation, with unique soils, in which erosion has left its mark on them, stripping this plot of the most superficial components, so that a layer of clay of about 10 – 15 cm thick and under which compact granitic sands appear, with three-dimensional networks of limestone. The climate is decisive for making this wine, and in 2008 it was an ideal climate for the ripening of the grapes. A rainfall close to 400 liters/m2 and a good distribution of rainfall throughout the year. The thermal differentials between day and night at a minimum of 17ºC starting in mid-August allowed this plot to be harvested on September 27. The plots where these grapes are grown are treated in the most respectful way possible, achieving soil with great biodiversity, so that all grapes are obtained with the uniqueness of the plot of origin, for this we work manually, without using any type of machinery in these plots, and of course, no type of synthetic product is used for nutrition or to combat pests that affect the vine. After the manual harvest, cooling of the grapes, manual selection of clusters and berries, the grapes are vatted in a new French oak vat, so that gravity works in the extraction processes during the production, the vatting of this wine lasted up to 29 days. The resulting wine, after devatting, was magical, it was full of character, minerality, it contained all the essence of Valquejigoso, it had a personality that we have tried to preserve during aging with the aim of this character of finesse and elegance lasting in this wine. for several decades.
