Vintage Turkish Hammam soap box from 19th century is a unique piece that will add character to any collection. Made from tinned copper, it showcases intricate design and craftsmanship that are typical of Islamic/Middle Eastern origin.
A great ethnographic object of art survived in great condition. Hand forged and created in two pieces with tinned surface for protection. It has forged copper handle. Such soap boxes were used for carrying bathing scrubs, soaps, pumice stones, wash rags and etc. There are star-shaped holes for water to drain out.
The be-all and end-all (must) of Ottoman bath culture; such containers are used specially by women to carry soap, comb, and/or other bath related materials while going to hammam, bath-house.
