This is a very rare Satsuma ware vase depicting scenes of Kyoto inside a fan. Cherry blossoms, rivers, and mountains are depicted. This design is not commonly seen in Satsuma ware vases. The entire vase is adorned with chrysanthemum flowers in gold leaf. The delicate painting provides a striking impact from any angle. Estimated to be around 80-100 years old. There is a signature of Renzan 連山 on the bottom. Satsuma-yaki is a type of Japanese pottery, primarily produced in Kagoshima Prefecture. It utilizes region-specific techniques and materials, including the use of local clay and distinctive glazing methods.
