Badge - BRDC - BRDC

An original BRDC Members Drivers Badge for attaching to the front of the car / grille of a vehicle. Extremely collectible rare piece. This item was originally issued to Stuart Graham The son of 1949 500cc Motorcycle World Champion Les Graham, who tragically died in the 1953 Isle of Man TT. Stuart raced bikes from 1961 - '70. He was a works driver for both Honda and Suzuki World Championship GP Teams. Wins include the Isle of Man TT, World Championship GPs and World Endurance Records. Stuart retired from bike racing in 1970. In 1973 Stuart resumed his racing career, this time with cars. He started to race in Touring Cars and dominated the British Championship in 1974 and '75. He also won two RAC TTs and British Championships behind the wheel of 5.7 and 7.5ltr Chevrolet Camaros, sponsored by Faberge Brut 33. In 1976 he contested the European Touring Car Championship as well as the Spa 24hrs and Kyalami 8hrs, in Chevrolet Camaros. Ford contracted Stuart to drive for them in 1977-1980. He drove a 3ltr Capri in the BTCC as well as French and Belgium Championships and the Spa 24hrs. He had numerous victories both at home and in Europe. Then in 1980 he retired from racing to concentrate on his business interests which included a Honda Dealership. Stuart made a part time return to racing from 1986-90 with a Lola T70 GT in the British Historic GT Championship and International Super Sports. Once again he retired in 1990 only to make another return in 1996. This time it was to race an Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, resulting in a win. Now Stuart races in a handful of historic events each year, mainly in 1950s sports cars with a Lister Chevrolet, just for fun. Furthermore he still does an occasional MotocycleDemo both in the UK and abroad. Stuart Graham is the only person (post war) to have won TTs on both two and four wheels. Stuart is a former Director of BRDC and Silverstone Circuits.
