Luristan Bronze Pilespidsgruppe (2) (Ingen mindstepris)
Two triangular Luristan cast bronze arrowheads, one with a small head and long tang, the other with a larger head and shorter tang. They both feature a raised central rib and a short, tubular section connecting the blade to the tang. The pieces feature a blue-green patina and some earthly encrustations. The barbs are mostly well-preserved and intact.
Luristan bronze comes from the Lorestan Province, renowned in antiquity for its sophisticated metal working techniques. Luristan weapons, such as this nice example, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased. Excavated items from this region often include weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Ornamental objects are also frequently found, such as pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often served ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
