Very fine triptych "Landscapes through four seasons", signed - including inscribed tomobako - Yamaguchi Hoshun (1893-1971) - Japan

Yamaguchi Hoshun was a japanese painter from the Taisho to Showa periods. Born in Hokkaido in 1893. He graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts). He studied under Eikyu Matsuoka and participated in the Shinko Yamato-e movement. ``Mikumano no Nachi Miyama'' was selected as a special selection at the Teiten Exhibition in 1920 and won the Imperial Art Institute Prize in 1929. He formed Rokucho-kai with Fukuda Heihachiro and others. He was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts and received Order of Culture. Died on May 31, 1971 when he was 78 years old. With original signed and sealed tomobako. Roller end: bone. Measurements: Scroll: 194 x 53 cm Picture: 120 x 41 cm Very good condition, there are signs of wear due to age and normal use, stains, marks, scratches; please, see pictures for actual condition.
