Tjekkoslovakiet - Partisaner - Medalje - Partizans Badge

Partizans Badge in Box Resistance to the occupation of the country by Nazi Germany began in Czechoslovakia since the occupation in 1939. There were four main Resistance groups operating in the territory of occupied Czechoslovakia: the Central Command of the Homeland Resistance ( Czech: Ústřední vedení odboje domácího , ÚVOD), the " We Remain Faithful " Committee ( Czech: Petiční výbor Verni zůstaneme , PVVZ) and the " People's Defense " ( Czech: Obrana národa , ON), as well as underground groups of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (CHR) associated with the USSR. Most members of the resistance organizations were former officers of the disbanded Czechoslovak army. After the liberation of Czechoslovakia in 1945, active members of the partisan resistance groups were awarded state awards - the Military Cross or the Medal for Bravery in the Face of the Enemy . However, there was a need to create an award that would distinguish members of the Resistance from other citizens, and it could be worn not only on uniforms, but also on civilian clothes. State Order No. 621 of September 9, 1946 established the Partisan badge. And Law No. 34 of February 14, 1946 determined who has the right to wear the badge and honorary title “Partisan.” The badge as an award could also be awarded to foreign citizens. For example, it was received by French prisoners of war who participated in the Slovak People's Uprising and fought in partisan detachments in Slovakia. It was also awarded to several hundred citizens of the USSR - Soviet partisans who fought on the territory of Czechoslovakia . The decision to award and present the badge was handled by the Ministry of National Defense of Czechoslovakia. Description The author of the badge is the sculptor Josef Malejowski. The badge has the shape of a five-pointed star measuring 50 mm, the badge is made of bronze and patinated to the color of old silver. On the star is an image of a walking partisan in an overcoat with a machine gun in his hands, with a laurel wreath between the rays. On the upper left ray of the star there is an inscription in two lines: “ČS PARTYZAN”. The reverse of the badge has a screw with a nut and washer for mounting on a uniform or civilian suit. The award set included a badge half the size (approximately 25 mm) and a miniature of the badge (26-27 mm). These small signs had a needle on the back for attaching to clothing.
