Classical modernist still life with view in the garden was executed ca. in 1930-1950 in the style of famous School of Paris (in French: Ecole de Paris) by Jeanine Mestchian or Metschian ( in Russian : Месчян) , the artist of Armenian origin, lived and worked in Paris in the first half of 20th century. Despite of high level of our painting, only little is known about this artist from the so-called lost genaration, very short reference can be find in only one sourse (artist register by German lexicon AKL by Saur ), where Metschian represented as a painter in Paris, last mention in 1952. Provenance: private estate in S.France of old Armenian origin. Literature: artist register of lexicon by Saur (in German: AKL) and date base: internet date base www.atprice.com. Inscription: signed lower right: "J. Mestchian". Technique: oil on cardboard. Original period frame. Measurements: unframed w 26 1/4" x h 41 1/3" (66,5 x 105 cm), framed w 28 1/4" x h 43 1/4" (71,5 x 110 cm). Condition: in good condition, material slightly curved on the passage of time.
