It is preceded by an introduction wich explains the reason for the journey, who was in the party and what they needed to take with them.
Lichtenstein travelled in Southern Africa between 1802 and 1806, His first journey, in the western and northern parts of the colony, took him to Saldanha Bay, the Bokkeveld and into the Great Karroo.
From there he visited Swellendam and travelled along the southern coast to Algoa Bay.
In this book he commented on the landscape wildlife, and people he encountered, with his observations on their cultures, economies, and languages.
Book is very nice rebound in leather-look cover. In good used condition. Some foxing.
Very rare and expansive book (only 2 copies on internet ca. €1000,- and ca. € 1650,-!)
