How does the clock function?
Due to a rotating arm one of the balls is picked up and brought to the top gutter in the minutes scale.
This takes exactly 60 seconds.
When the minute scale is filled, it tilts and is emptied. One of these balls will enter the 5 minute scale.
When this 5 minute scale is filled, it tilts and is emptied and drops one ball in the hour scale.
After 24 hours, this tilts and the process is repeated.
