Jacobus Lambertus Dispo sr (born in Steenwijk 1890 - died in the Hague 1964) except in his home town, he lived and worked in the Hague, Cologne, and Frankfurt am Main. He was a pupil of the evening trade school in Steenwijk, (received the highest award for drawing) and of the Academy of fine arts in the Hague. Dispo worked in a mosaic workshop in Cologne and was a teacher to the painter school in Groningen. After 1935 he worked exclusively as a painter, particularly of cityscapes of Delft and Amsterdam.
