These Japanese hand-made fishing floats were made and used by the fishermen from the Hokkaido Island of northern Japan. They are the authentic floats. In Japan, the glass fishing floats are being replaced by the plastic and polystyrene ones, making the authentic glass fishing floats highly collectible.
They are hand-made, with some air bubbles and traces of form. At the end of the 19th century, due to high demand, they were cast in forms that accelerated the production process. The glass is undulating, not perfectly smooth as the modern copies.
The balls are green and brown.
