This imposing lamp was designed by Louis Kalff (1897–1976) and was produced by Philips Holland in the 1950s; type name is Timor 69. The exterior of the lamp is matte dark green and the inside is white, for a perfect reflection of the light. The upright has a chrome colour. This lamp has the original brand mark. The shape of this lamp seems to have been Louis Kalff's inspiration for his architectural masterpiece, the "Evoluon" in Eindhoven, an exhibition centre for science and technology. Louis Kalff is also the designer of the world-famous Philips logo, as we still know it today. Louis Kalff was successful both as industrial designer and as architect.
