William T. Marotta - Skulptur, Spanischer Eroberer "Eroberer"

A very unique large statue of a Spanish 'conquistador' created by American sculptor William T. Marotta (1917-2007), who lived and worked in Illinois, Texas USA. Signed on the base on the back and a copyright symbol with year 1968. There is a statue, a gilt metal version made in 1944. A conquistador (the Spanish term for 'conqueror') was a soldier, explorer and adventurer. A large part of Latin America and the Philippines was controlled by the conquistadors from the 15th to 17th centuries under Spanish control. Source: Wikipedia. Material: Composite and outside with gilt thin metal, copper or bronze. Dimensions: Height 63.5 cm x Width 20.5 cm x Depth 12 cm. Weight: 7.2 kg. Story about a famous Spanish conquistador "conqueror": Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca (Jerez de la Frontera, 1490 - Sevilla, 1559) - a Spanish explorer. Is known for the epic journey he made between 1527 and 1536 in North America. He took part in the expedition of Pánfilo de Narváez through Florida. He was shipwrecked, and Cabeza de Vaca was one of the few survivors. He washed ashore on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, near Galveston in present-day Texas. Cabeza de Vaca fought to survive. He began a journey through the interior of North America, to return to the Spanish occupation in New Spain. Large groups of Native Americans regularly joined him, they believed he possessed magical powers. Cabeza de Vaca began to feel sympathy for the Native Americans, and at a certain point he hardly knew if he was a Native American or a European. With the usual age-related wear such as scratches, spots, some dents, and minor damage. Please study all photos for a good impression. Will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail by PostNL, within the Netherlands and abroad.
