USA - Hubschrauber-Einheiten - Piloten-Helme

Here we offer a late sixties, begin seventys original Gerntex APH 4/5 helicopter helmet, bought from a Vietnam vet. The helmet is still in excellent condition, the dark visor has no cracks and is in almost mint condition, the helmet was taped in camouflage when I bought it This is a complete set, with full microphone and and communications cable, but both have been made unusable otherwise it could not be exported form the USA, your purchase also includes the foam display head. The ear cups are deteriorating a bit, remember that the helmet is around 50 years old, the liner seems to be replaced at some moment because this is a newer addition, also the dust-off unit is also a replacement, this seems to be not corresponding with a fighting squadron. There holes on the sides of the helmet, this helmet was once used for high altitude helecopter flights (probably reconnaissance flights) and these holes were made for the receivers that then hold the oxygen mask. I lived in Southern California for 20 years and as a documentary maker I visited a lot of plane restauration facilities, airstrips with classic military planes and organisations that restored fighter planes and helicopters, I even got to fly in restored fighter planes, bombers and helicopters. In the USA I started collecting helmets like Blue Angels and Thunderbirds and my favourite Navy squadrons but also helicopter helmets, I also befriended and visited a lot of Vietnam veterans who flew in the war. I bought this helmet in Las Vegas Nevada when I made a documentary about Vietnam vets in the USA today, for this I came in contact with a person that ran a big wharehouse in Las Vegas and he only hired Vietnam Veterans to work for him. His offices were full of Vietnam memorabilia, weapons, uniforms, helmets, parts of planes camoflage nets on the wall, Helicopter models all around, they all walked around in this place like they were still soldiers. I tried to buy some stuff of them but they would not sell any. But one of the pilots I befriended when I was there had a friend who wanted to sell his helmet, and that was this one. The helmet is in good condition, partially restored and it has been part my collection for a long time now, it has always been in a display case to preserve it. This helmet will be perfect for any war or aeronautics collection, office or man cave. Please take a good look at the photos, they are the best description of the item. What you see is what you get, so if you have any doubt please don not buy the helmet! It will be quickly send after payment, professionally packed and with track an trace!
