Beautiful oil painting. large format (44 x 70.5 cm) by Co Breman (1865-1938) entitled ‘Zonnige dag aan de IJssel’ from 1933. The work is beautiful blonde in colour and painted with an aggressive style. With a hand-crafted gold-plated frame by the Heijdenrijk firm from Amsterdam. Condition s very good. The painting can be put on display immediately. Will be sent by registered and insured mail. Co Breman went to the painting and drawing school of Jan Derk Huibers in Zwolle and obtained an art diploma. Around 1889, he went to Brussels where he went to work in decoration studios and studied at the Academy Royal des Beaux Arts. Via Amsterdam, where he joined the Sint-Lucasgilde and Arti et Amicitiae, Breman moved to Het Gooi in 1897, here Breman would focus more and more on freelance painting. His work stood out due to its bright colours and the sunny effects, with lots of attention for the composition. He mostly painted landscapes, farms, colourful interiors and figures. Together with Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig, he worked as one of the first painters in the Netherlands in pointillistic engineering. Breman exhibited his works on a regular basis at the exhibitions of ‘De Tien’, ‘the Gooise schildersclub’ of which he became the secretary. He also exhibited abroad in Madrid, Berlin, London, San Francisco and Glasgow, among other cities. Breman lived in Laren from 1913 on. From 1921 until his death, he was president of the artists association Laren-Blaricum. His work can to seen in the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem, the Dordrechts Museum, the Singer Museum in Laren, but he is also represented in foreign museums. #ExclusiveArtWeek
