German EHRE sabre for Artillery Officers. This German sabre is 98 cm long, blade length = 82 cm.. The beautifully executed brass bracket hilt with lion’s head is richly decorated with oak leaf motifs. The crossguard with lion's head has shields equipped with the artillery's coat of arms (2 crossed cannons) and the coat of arms of the German Emperor; 1871 - 1918 ). The leather handle features a gold wire winding with a very beautiful and richly decorated back leading up to a "Lion's Head"! The blade is sharply executed on one side and nicely etched and provided with the text; "FUR HERINNERUNG AN MEINE DIENSTZEIT " and floral motifs! The logo of the maker of E&F Hörster from Solingen is affixed to the blade. The sabre has a steel sheath with 2 carrying eyes and a belt attachment. Pictures are part of the description.
