Automobiles Minerva Auto Mascot radiator cap is one of the most striking and sought after car mascots, commissioned by the Belgian manufacturer Automobiles Minerva and an exceptional study of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, medicine and the arts. This is an impressively large mascot, it’s 16 cm tall, cast in bronze-alloy copper with a natural patination. Just above the base is the signature of P. de Soete (1886-1948), widely regarded as the most important sculptor in Belgium in the early 20th century. The mascot is in remarkable condition and is also numbered (99). This mascot is referenced in most definitive books on vintage car mascots such as Motoring Mascots of the World and Mascots Automobiles, and is an extremely rare find. An artefact and an opportunity for the advanced collector.
